Glimmer Design is the portfolio of digital media designer Fiona Kelly.
Hailing initially from a background in graphic design, I excelled at and survived the Multimedia Authoring course in Arthouse way back in 1996, worked in eLearning for a number of years and then became an honours graduate of the MA in Interactive Media from DIT. All of which means I have over 15 years experience working in the Digital Media industry and am still loving it.
Working primarily as a designer and project manager in the areas of web, motion graphics and print. I run Glimmer Design as a vehicle for my freelance work. Included in my client list are MyHome.ie, MUZU.TV, Ground 4D (on the award winning Coors Light Peak Campaign), Refresh Digital and many others.
I have my finger in a number of other pies too. The result of which is that I get to work with other seriously talented people on projects that are outside the scope of my freelance work….
I’m part of the design collective FLK Studio which consists of myself, Sue Patterson (Sink Digital Media), Graham Murtagh (Grammu) & Cormac Kelly (Birdie) and provides a way for us to partner on larger projects that are beyond the scope of us individually. Notable projects completed by FLK include ‘The Festival of World Cultures’ {2007 & 2008} and publishing of ‘Back to Old School’, a design book showcasing 20 invite Irish designers and 20 submitted International Designers.
I’m also a member of the collaboration known as Fat Kitty Films where I bring my vast motion graphic and graphic design skills to the team and they teach me all about the film and TV production world. As part of Fat Kitty Films I successfully co-produced on ‘The Athenrides’, a short film commissioned by The Irish Film Board as part of their Virtual Cinema Scheme.
More recently I assisted Jessie Ward in producing ‘The Lady of the Rock’, her amazing film that captures and answers the mystery of the popularity of a certain statue that can be seen in windows around Dublin and beyond… “They’re sneaking down the country”.
Currently working on ‘Tasseltastic’ with Jessie Ward, a self driven piece of motion graphic fun, combining Burlesque and clever editing that will mesmerise and amuse – a veritable feast for the eyes. Due for release in December 2011.
I am also a part-time lecturer on Digital Media in DIT and The Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB) where I am passionate about encouraging my students to explore all avenues of media design from static to motion with emphasise on using all available media technology to enable and add to their vision.
Thanks for visiting my site and please get in touch if you like what you see. I am available for contract positions as well as freelance projects.
