There was a way to finally monetize facebook by streaming the MUZU player (which embeds in-line adverts) onto facebook pages. The record companies were more than happy for that to happen so I came up with a design solution that branded the pages to individual artists but was easy to update quickly for rollout. EMI, Sony, Warner and Universal artists were all designed their branded pages where the player could play and in-line adverts could roll every 4th video or quicker if requested. These were then embedded as video tabs on the Band’s pages. The aim was to capture the bands branding essence in a page so it would attract the viewers attention and they would start watching videos directly from facebook.
The first few of the below slideshow were done up as full branding pages but facebook resized the available area so the smaller players are done to this new size. Personnally I thought the full size branded pages looked great and they had a much better response than the smaller simpler players. That said, overall the project was a success and we did indeed monetise facebook.
