The guys had a very firm brief and they wanted to capture the anology of building bridges internationally. As the conference is being held beside the iconic Samuel Beckett bridge it was an obvious choice for the illustration. The feeling of distance was achieved though the use of strong lines and city tags. I wanted the branding to be colourful yet sophsicitated and I feel the resulting illustration and clean lined website captures this aim.

My illustrative treatment will soon be applied across all branding for the conference from Stage Banners, Scrims, Billboards and Print. Exciting stuff and I can’t wait to see the final results.

A wordpress theme was the best solution, which I set up and made sure had plenty of big images to attract attention on the homepage and then I threw a ton of design at it to capture their cool branding and make it standout.

The first few of the below slideshow were done up as full branding pages but facebook resized the available area so the smaller players are done to this new size. Personnally I thought the full size branded pages looked great and they had a much better response than the smaller simpler players. That said, overall the project was a success and we did indeed monetise facebook.

The first one was initially screened initially screened on the big massive Vodafone screen in the campsite at Oxegen 2010. We hear it looked great but didn’t get to see it ourselves and didn’t get any pics. More’s the pity…

This Ident was used on a loop as a ‘cut to’ during the Live Streaming.

This one is a homage to Lost (even if the ending was awful the Title Sequence held up for 6 series nicely)

All in all the newsletter was designed to catch the eye yet be quick and easy to design up and mail out, all the while aiming to gain click thoughs back to MUZU’s site, which it achieved nicely.

Also below are various eShots that headed out to various different subscribers over the past few months. The iPod competition was particularity successful in garnering click-throughs.

The brief was to design a content managed site that reflected the print campaign and that would generate interest in the events that were staged in 5 different cities across Ireland while enabling quick an easy updates by the client. The resulting site was built using blueprint and expression engine.

The Wildlight Channel showcases fresh and original short-form film content from around the world. The channel is aimed at 3G phones and features animations and live-action shorts that are particularly suited to small screens and a mobile audience.

I hope that this new design is a better visual feast for showcasing my portfolio. It’s layout also gives me the scope to present other areas that I dip into now and again such as producing films, what we get up to in FLK and self-driven projects that I do just for fun. (Watch this space…)

Starting off, I’ll be taking a look back on some really old work of mine, starting in the mid 90′s (!) with my 1st ever website and moving forward from there through the decades of my design output. I think there’s some interesting points to be made about the trends of design and the circles it moves in. Personally, I think that in some ways we’re back to the late 90s style in web design, but with the advantage of faster broadband – not 35k max like it used to be for a full site.

Anyway, I’ll leave it at that for now and check back soon for the 1st article.
